EX4 – Artist Statement, Services & Pitch

1. Write a polished Artist’s statement/biography to include in your marketing.

Make it interesting… a story. It does not need to include your resume points. Put these in an actual resume on LinkedIn. It MUST be interesting if you expect people to read it, not a boring biography (see articles here for direction)

2. Write a polished definition of illustration services you will offer.

You may consider doing this in the form of a bullet point list or F.A.Q. if that interests you. The important thing is to tell people what you do clearly so they know what type of work they could be hiring you for.

3. Write an elevator pitch and present it during class.

Directions on how to compose an elevator pitch click here.

  • Smile and look in their eyes as you shake their hand
  • Tell them your name
  • Say WHAT you do for WHOM
  • Clearly express HOW it helps people
  • CALL for action
    • Ask for a referral of they know someone who needs that
    • Invite them to see your work online
    • Show them a card with your art and hand it to them at the end of the introduction

Please turn this in on Dropbox AND bring a printed copy for 1-on-1 instructor review.
